Tyrone first imagined Global Games in the Scottish Highlands and has guided it from a small community event into one of New Zealand’s largest junior sporting platforms. He leads the overall vision and direction of the organisation, while staying hands-on across all areas. Tyrone is passionate about creating opportunities for young people and strengthening community through sport. With experience in both not-for-profit and commercial ventures, he brings a rare mix of heart and business smarts to everything Global Games does.
From vendor partnerships and field setups to transport, infrastructure, and the Sporty event app, he ensures every detail is taken care of. With 18 years of leadership experience across three continents and a background in government transformations, Colin brings both global perspective and local know-how. He also runs his own leadership coaching company and is key to keeping Global Games’ waste-free commitment on track.
Carla is the main point of contact for teams, handling registrations, bookings, and communication in the lead-up to events. She co-manages social media, supports buddy team allocations, and takes the lead as Event Manager at the Girls Festival. A business owner and grassroots coach, Carla brings both practical skills and a genuine passion for community sport.
Jo oversees strategy, sponsorships, council relationships, and funding — keeping Global Games growing and sustainable. She also manages volunteers, budgeting, travel, accommodation, and marketing support. Calm, capable, and highly organised, Jo makes sure every moving piece connects smoothly. She works closely with Without Waste to deliver on Global Games’ goal of running waste-free festivals.
Jason has been part of Global Games for more than a decade, holding roles from GM to Head of Ops. Now he looks after invoicing, reconciliation, and special projects. A former NZ age-group underwater hockey captain and Junior Doctor, Jason cares deeply about sport, youth, and community. Calm and tech-savvy, he’s known for solving problems and building lasting connections.
Ken is Global Games’ longest-serving team member, coordinating referees across the country and making sure they’re well prepared. With a background as a paramedic and a former Waikato rugby appointments official, he brings both trust and experience. Ken is a steady, respected presence at every festival.
Duane has spent a lifetime in rugby league, from senior leadership with NZ Army Rugby League to regional roles across the country. He brings strong governance, strategy, and grassroots development experience. At Global Games, Duane helps shape the Rugby League Festival and supports the national league strategy.
Mary-Anne has supported Global Games for many years, helping with cultural coordination, school outreach, and community engagement. Through her role with YMCA Auckland, she brings HR expertise and a people-first approach, supporting board-level systems and communication.
Liv has been part of Global Games since its early days, from planning and delivery to managing the Taupō festival. Now a Regional Sports Director in Hawke’s Bay, she brings leadership experience in school and community sport. Approachable and highly organised, Liv has a strong understanding of the kaupapa and continues to guide the organisation forward.
Wider Team
Based in France, Bruno has been part of Global Games since before its first event. He connects international teams to the festival, helping bring European sides to New Zealand. With a background in commercial and event roles, Bruno is passionate about building cross-cultural connections through sport.
Campbell oversees on-field rugby matters, from referees and rules to judiciary processes. A former All Black and Crusaders champion, he has coached and managed rugby internationally in the USA, Germany, and Spain. Off the field, he’s a property consultant, business founder, and advocate for diversity and inclusion. His deep rugby knowledge and leadership are invaluable to Global Games.
Cyril builds the event draws, balancing team numbers and field schedules, often under tight deadlines. He also manages Sporty app data and helps on the ground during festivals. As Chief Advisor for Priority Learners at the Ministry of Education, Cyril brings expertise in data, education, and iwi engagement, ensuring cultural values are woven into Global Games.
Matt leads the Football Festival, bringing 20+ years of experience with FIFA, New Zealand Football, and Rugby World Cup. He has held senior commercial and operations roles across Asia and NZ and now runs his own consultancy, The Partnership Place. Matt brings a high-performance mindset and practical industry insight to Global Games’ growth into football.
Kate works with Global Games through Without Waste, embedding waste minimisation and climate-friendly systems across all events. With a strong background in environmental consulting, she has delivered waste-free solutions at some of NZ’s biggest festivals. Kate brings a practical, education-focused approach to sustainability.
Mike is a proud Taupō local with a long background in grassroots rugby and refereeing. A retired Air Force Officer and now a real estate professional, he brings calm, strategic leadership to the team. A keen motorcyclist and photographer, Mike’s deep roots in the community make him a valued part of the Taupō festival.
Vili manages Global Games’ social media and design, creating content that captures the energy of each festival. He works with photographers and videographers to showcase the best moments and ensures the brand stays consistent and vibrant. Also a semi-pro rugby player in Australia, Vili brings creativity and discipline to both his sport and his work.
Maryke leads PR and media for Global Games. With 15+ years in journalism, sports media, and events, she founded PlayMaker PR and has worked with World Rugby, Auckland Rugby, and Rugby World Cup 2021. She is also the founder of The SiS Report, which celebrates women and girls in sport. Maryke combines powerful storytelling with deep industry knowledge.
Chris leads Stills in Motion Media, capturing the energy and emotion of Global Games through high-quality video. His path has taken him from farm work to scuba instruction before building a career in visual storytelling. With a passion for honest, cinematic content, Chris brings the festivals to life for players and families everywhere.
Andy is an award-winning photographer whose work captures the spirit of Global Games. Founder of Adventure Lens NZ, he brings decades of outdoor leadership and a reportage style that tells authentic stories. From rugby sidelines to remote river trips, Andy’s photography shows not just what happened, but what it meant.
